DTN COMMENTS: A few more bids are on the table at midday, following
yesterday's light to moderate business, mostly in the South at $182, $1
lower than last week's weighted averages. Some isolated live business was
also reported in parts of Western Nebraska at $183, $1 lower than last
week's weighted average. No significant dressed deals were reported in the
North yesterday. Asking prices are around $183-plus in the South, and $290
to $292 in the North.
Beef cutouts are lower at midday (choice 297.96 -2.11, select 274.99 -
0.60) with light to moderate box movement (57.99 lds of choice cuts, 24.41
lds of select cuts, 10.16 lds of trim, and 7.20 lds of ground). Cattle
futures at the top of the noon hour are modestly to moderately higher on
both live and feeder contracts.
